Psalm 118:24 (NKJV) This is the day the Lord has made; We will rejoice and be glad in it.
1 Thessalonians 5:18 (NKJV) in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.
Friday is my favorite weekday, it is an appetizer of the weekend and a sign of the end of the workweek. Mondays, on the other hand, I hated. I would get a sense of dread and loathing when Sunday nights came because Monday was only a few hours away. But God…
Around Thanksgiving Day last year, things began to change as the Holy Spirit brought the two verses above to my remembrance and that neither of the verses had exception clauses for Monday in them. Ouch! The Truth is so toe-stomping simple! So, I began praying for grace and wisdom for the right attitude about Mondays. This was quickly tested since I was coming off of a 4-day weekend for Thanksgiving and had enjoyed spending the time with my best friend and husband, Brian. The surprise of all surprises about that first Monday is that I actually looked forward to it! To God be all of the glory! I know my attitude would not have changed if He had not changed it.
Since then, I have been tested on this new attitude as the temptation to groan come Sunday night has presented itself. I just keep being reminded to pray for grace and wisdom and meditate on those verses for the right, godly attitude about Monday. The times of temptation to dread Monday’s arrival are fewer now than when I first started this and I am finding them easier to resist. The Father truly is concerned about the things that concern us! My next challenge is to resist the “5 more minutes” when it is time to arise during the workweek and I have no doubt that “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me”!
